Having a great mattress is important but now you need to protect it. I’ll be honest and say I didn’t know about this for a long while. Memory foam needs to be protected and most of the great mattresses you’ll see on this site and on other websites around the web.
Memory foam tends to mold when it gets wet and you lose about a pint of sweat at night and that will soak into your mattress. Once your mattress is wet, the mold forms and unfortunately you cannot get the mold out.
Moral of the story- Get a mattress protector!

Remember you need to put this on as soon as you get your new mattress. The longer you wait the more fluid your mattress will retain, and this will shorten the life of your mattress. Check on the warranty of your mattress as well, because some may require you to prove you used a mattress protector if they found fluid in your mattress.
Also, if you are prone to allergies from molds and mildews you do not want to expose yourself to more of those as you are sleeping.
